Lexie had
her 11
th Birthday on Bertha. Finally I got to use the cake tins and
decorations for their intended purpose. At least one of us had their special
day actually ON Bertha. She started her birthday in Carnarvon, with some
presents and cards sent from Melbourne, and finished it freecamping in a place
called Point Quobba. We had planned a party with our friends, but a comedy of
errors had us driving down 30km of HORRIBLE corrugated road (which we were
assured was a bitumen short-cut) and we missed each other. This resulted in
HEAPS of leftover party food – we had cheezels and puppy dog hot dogs for DAYS.
Point
Quobba was lovely and we were able to have a small family celebration on the
night of her birthday, which was still fun and special.
Three days
after her birthday, we ran into our friends in Coral Bay and we were able to have
a slightly delayed birthday celebration, and combine it with theirs! Dunc
whipped up a batch of sausage rolls to go with the remaining puppy dogs and it
was on. Fizzy drinks, party lollies and all.
