Agnes Waters

Our next stop on our wander south was Agnes Waters and the town of 1770. Wed chosen a place with a pool and plenty of space for Bertha, so the little town of 1770 was out. We stayed in Agnes Waters and it was a long HOT drive down there. We can run the air conditioning, but only on low. The bus engine generates enough power to run the air-con, but if we have hills we have to turn it off. We had it running most of the way, but it was stinking hot and the air-con was finding it hard to keep up.

I fell asleep on the floor of the aisle (it was the coolest place to be) and I was literally dreaming of floating in the pool at our destination. So you can imagine how I felt when we were told that the pool was out of order. There were actually tears. And not just from the kids. It was NOT a good day.

In fact the weather there was pretty cruddy too. It was hot but overcast and rainy too. We spent a lot of time cooped up in Bertha, with both air-cons going. We did do a little trip out to the gorgeous town of 1770 during the one lovely sunny part of the day. We also had a look around Agnes Waters, which would be lovely in nicer weather. We even got to see a frill-necked lizard and put another tick on the wild animal bucket list! Try as we might, we were not able to frighten him into putting his frill out. Very exciting regardless... And watching Dunc's imitation of his tippy-toe run was hysterical.

Duncan and Angus changed a tyre on the trailer which had developed a slow leak. Angus was pretty proud to be helping

And I took the opportunity to do the annual Christmas card design. Amazing what one can rustle up in a bus, with some extensive research on Pinterest...
