Emerald

One of Duncans must dos on this trip was a trip out to Longreach to see the Qantas Museum, so it was time to bid farewell to the coast and head inland. This gave us the opportunity to call in and see Anna (my relative), as her new place in the town of Emerald was right on the way. We stayed at the Showgrounds there, as they dont charge any extra for children and headed to see the sights of Emerald. 20 minutes later we were done and ready to catch up with Anna. LOL. Emerald has an enormous reproduction of Van Goghs Sunflowers and a mosaic trail leading to it. Its also right on the border of the Tropic of Capricorn, so we spent a minute or two crossing in and out of the tropics. Aside from that, its a lovely smaller town and we spent some time chilling in the local pool, catching up with Anna and doing schoolwork.
Anna came to us the first night, and I forgot to take any pics – whoops. Too busy enjoying the moment to capture it. The next night we went to her new place and checked it out over nibblies before going out for dinner. I have vivid memories of accidentally stabbing Anna with a nappy pin when she was just a baby and its just lovely to see her all grown up now. OMG I seem to have officially turned into one of those old aunts who pinches cheeks, gives unwanted kisses and says My how youve GROWN! Oh dear
