Good days and bad days

Weve had some absolutely wonderful days on this trip, but I also had my first bad day too. Waking up to this view was wonderful, but it all went downhill from there:

The hot water system wouldnt light so it was a cold shower for me. Hence I was in a cranky mood from then on. Then we had to wake Lexie to get to the Burnie paper making tour at 9.15. That tour was cancelled. Managed to talk our way into joining a bus group for a 9.30 tour. Eftpos machine wouldnt work. Grumpy kids on the tour. Lexie left in tears, not feeling well. And the day consisted of grumping and griping and arguments and disagreements from then on. It was wonderfully capped off with vomit from Lexie, though I was fortunate enough not to have to deal with that. Poor Duncan got that one – which would explain why he was grumpy too. We really should learn that late nights + fun times + excitement = vomit for Lexie. Its happened enough times now – when we flew to England, during our holiday with all the extended family in Mooloolabah and now. She really needs more rest and sleep than most kids. Its one of the reasons we are taking a chill-out day today. This is where I am writing this at the moment:

We are in Waratah now, having a wonderful time. Even my crappy day full of grumping also had wonderful parts: the view to wake up to, we toured a lovely Alpaca Farm, and saw some gorgeous waterfalls. Angus went swimming but I was so over that kid and his whining (he was tired too) that I took the opportunity for some time out in bed with Lexie.

And then we got to Waratah, which is the most beautiful town. It has its own waterfall and a fabulous Caravan Stop which is not quite a caravan park. It has power and water sites and showers/toilet/laundry. But thats it. No managers, houses, on-sites, permanents, or anything else. It’s wonderful! So even my bad day was pretty damn good on the whole. We have extended our stay another night so we can explore the town properly. There are museums and signposts and a walking tour which we did half of on our way to the pub for dinner last night.

Since this is my diary (I figure Im boring the rest of you senseless) I should record where we have stayed since the last update. Ill do that in separate posts to keep me sane with the uploading. Feel free to skip past them if youre bored!
