So we are actually already on our Big Lap trip, but the last few weeks were so utterly frantic I did not have time to update the blog. I DID have the odd moment to plan my posts though, so I am determined to get them out there in the wide world web.
In the middle of packing the whole house up, I was still determined to give the children a “normal” Christmas. This resulted in some “interesting” home decor!
We made treats for their school friends and I even got my usual Christmas card emailed out - albeit just before midnight on Christmas Eve!
We spent Christmas Day at home in the morning, unwrapping our gifts with Hilly and Pop after our usual yummy croissant breakfast. I am just so very amazed by Lexie and Angus. Having been made to wait until 10am to open their presents, the first 3 that they chose (we do gifts one-by-one so everyone can see the reactions) were for others! They took SUCH joy in the GIVING of gifts - made my heart just melt. Particularly since many of those gifts were for me!
Cant imagine where they might possibly have gotten this joy of giving from... oh wait! Maybe it was from their grandmother who prepared not only an elaborate treasure hunt that sent them from one end of the house to the other, but also the most AMAZING packaging for a dozen beers ever!! What a highlight of our day.
We then went to my cousin Danah’s house for our Dutchie Christmas and the chance to bid farewell (for a few weeks) to my side of the family. It was a lovely day where we had the chance to catch up with Catherine’s parents from the UK and sit down and relax for once!
The next day we did it all over again with Dunc’s family. We caught up for afternoon tea at Stu and Jane’s and sitting down and relaxing and eating was starting to feel almost normal by then. We were all horribly spoilt and the children got some wonderfully appropriate presents and lots of smaller gifts and CASH so they don’t have to bug us at all the gift shops.
